Shiitake Mushrooms

For a Healthy Treat Consider Shiitake Mushrooms

It’s hard to eat edible mushrooms. They are rich in fibre, vitamin C, calcium, minerals and protein, and B vitamins. Most importantly, they are an excellent source of antioxidants. But perhaps the best is shiitake mushrooms. They are known for their strong smoky aroma and are said to have ten times the taste of white mushrooms. But the health benefits of shiitake mushrooms make them a symbol of longevity in Asia.

. In Japan, it is an alternative medicine that can significantly improve the survival rate of cancer patients. It has also been found that lentinan can protect the liver and relieve many stomach problems.

These benefits alone are enough for you to eat shiitake mushrooms. But if prepared properly, they are definitely a treat as a side dish. They are now mainly manufactured in China, but Japan used to be the largest producer. They have been found in the wild since prehistoric times and have been used for treatment in Asia for thousands of years. So this is not a new fashion food

Shiitake mushrooms can be found in most grocery stores and Asian markets. When you buy them, check their hardness and make sure they are not wet and sticky. I put them in a loosely sealed paper bag in the refrigerator, but I tried to prepare them soon after buying them. They get wet when immersed in water, so wipe them clean before preparing. They are really easy to prepare, and their rich flavour can match many dishes, especially chicken and fish. I use them as an accompaniment to these two main dishes.

You can find several ways to cook them online, but I think the best way to cook them is to steam them with olive oil and garlic. You may find that their stems are not suitable for consumption. So if you fry the lids, you can prepare them appropriately. Fresh rosemary or oregano can also be added to the roast, so try to find what you like. You may be shocked by their cost, but for a few tidbits, they are sometimes worth the money.

As mentioned earlier, you can’t go wrong with eating mushrooms, but they are not the same in terms of nutritional value and taste. Americans consume approximately 900,000,000 pounds of mushrooms each year, but so far, most (estimated 95%) come from a single species: common mushrooms and their close relatives, portobello and crimini mushrooms. They all contain valuable nutrients, but you may never have heard of various mushrooms.
